چکیده

SrTiO$_3$-based two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) can be formed through the deposition of epitaxial oxides like LaAlO$_3$ or reactive metals such as Al. Such 2DEGs possess a finite Rashba spin-orbit coupling that has recently been harnessed to interconvert charge and spin currents direct inverse Edelstein Hall effects. Here we compare formation properties generated in SrTiO$_3$ by growth Al, Ta Y ultrathin films magnetron sputtering. By combining situ ex X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) gain insight into reduction appearance Ti$^{3+}$ states associated with 2DEG formation, its reoxidation exposure air, transformation metal binary oxides. We extract carrier densities magnetotransport them XPS data. Finally, working samples covered an extra layer NiFe, perform spin-pumping ferromagnetic resonance experiments investigate spin-charge conversion function gate voltage. identify trends data across different sample systems discuss density transparency oxide tunnel barrier.

Room-Temperature Spin Memory in Two-Dimensional Electron Gases

Time-resolved Kerr reflectivity of two-dimensional electron gases in II-VI semiconductors provides a direct measure of electron spin precession and relaxation over a temperature range from 4 to 300 kelvin. The introduction of n-type dopants increases the electronic spin lifetimes several orders of magnitude relative to insulating counterparts, a trend that is also observed in doped bulk semicon...

Charge and spin dynamics in a two-dimensional electron gas.

A number of time-resolved optical experiments probing and controlling the spin and charge dynamics of the high-mobility two-dimensional electron gas in a GaAs/AlGaAs heterojunction are discussed. These include time-resolved reflectivity, luminescence, transient grating, magneto-optical Kerr effect, and electro-optical Kerr effect experiments. The optical experiments provide information on the c...

Spin-charge coupling effects in a two-dimensional electron gas

In these lecture notes we study the disordered two-dimensional electron gas in the presence of Rashba spin-orbit coupling, by using the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green function technique. We describe the effects of the spin-orbit coupling in terms of a SU(2) gauge field and derive a generalized Boltzmann equation for the charge and spin distribution functions. We then apply the formalism to discus...

Spin-imbalanced quasi-two-dimensional Fermi gases.

We measure the density profiles for a Fermi gas of (6)Li containing N(1) spin-up atoms and N(2) spin-down atoms, confined in a quasi-two-dimensional geometry. The spatial profiles are measured as a function of spin imbalance N(2)/N(1) and interaction strength, which is controlled by means of a collisional (Feshbach) resonance. The measured cloud radii and central densities are in disagreement w...

Charge separation of dense two-dimensional electron-hole gases: mechanism for exciton ring pattern formation.

We report on new experiments and theory that unambiguously resolve the recent puzzling observation of large diameter exciton emission halos around a laser excitation spot in two dimensional systems. We find a novel separation of plasmas of opposite charge with emission from the sharp circular boundary between these two regions. This charge separation allows for cooling of initially hot opticall...
